About Northern Mattress & Furniture 1st "We've been in the Mattress and Furniture business since 1950" Northern Mattress & Furniture 1st is a third generation service business which is owned by a Maine born, raised, and educated family.

1950: Northern Mattress & Furniture 1st was founded as Northern Mattress Co. in 1950 by the Redman family. 
2007: The original Northern Mattress Co. closed in March of 2007. In November of that same year, Priceless Mattress & Furniture was opened by Karen Lee Redman at 16 Western Avenue, Augusta Maine. Karen Lee's husband Peter worked at the original Northern Mattress Co. factory. 
2010: In August 2010, the Redman family decided to pay homage to their founding by combining Priceless Mattress & Furniture with Northern Mattress Co, becoming Northern Mattress & Furniture 1st. 
Today: Northern Mattress & Furniture 1st operates two locations in Central Maine: Augusta and Skowhegan.
